Legal Pages for your website

If you own a website and do any of the following you must have a Privacy Policy on your website (It’s the law):

  • Have a contact form

  • Have a newsletter form

  • Take payments of any kind, even if processed by a third party

  • Book services

  • Collect information of any kind about visitors

  • Use a Facebook/Meta Pixel

  • Use Google Search Console

I would also highly recommend a Terms and Conditions and a Disclaimer as well. Since I’m not a lawyer, I can’t provide these pages for you.

I use Termageddon* for my Privacy Policy because they keep it updated for you which is an awesome feature since the laws are always changing.

I’ve used both of these contract providers for terms and conditions and disclaimers and love each of them. They are worth every penny to protect your website and small business.

Image Curation for your website

High quality photos and graphics are must for a professional website that converts visitors into clients, builds trust and authority for your small business.

Grainy or blurry photos, graphics, or logo images hurt your business by looking unprofessional and untrustworthy. Visitors will be unimpressed and click away from your website is less than half a second. Don’t let this happen to you.

Never screenshot or use “free” images you find on Google. These more than likely are copyrighted and will land your business in hot water legally.

If you can afford it, the best images are curated for your brand with a professional photoshoot.

However, that’s not always in the budget.

Below is a list of free and paid resources for photo curation.

Logo Creation for your website

You can hire a designer to create a logo for you but I’ve found that for most small business owners, Canva works great.

It’s easy to use and you can download high resolution files. In fact, I use Canva for so much of my social media work that I don’t know what I’d do without it!

Keep your logo simple and clean. Try not to overthink it. Simple is better.

Keyword Research

If you want your business to rank in searches, keywords are well, key.

Take sometime to make a list of the works that your potential clients are searching and then do the research to see how easy or difficult it will be to rank for those keywords on your website.

Once you have your keywords, you’ll want to use them in your website copy.

Write your copy with you keywords in a natural way so you don’t get punished for keyword stuffing.

Trademark & Name Check Research

One of the most important things you need to do before purchasing a domain name is searching the USPTO trademark data base.

You do not want to use a name that is trademarked by another business. It’s a great way to cause legal headaches and not to mention, legal fees if you get sued. Take the time to do your research!

You can also do a quick search for user names as well to see if your chosen social media handles are taken.
